A pilot project between NTU, Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA), Choice NTUA Wireless (NTUAW), and Microsoft has combined computer training and easier Internet access for residents at five Navajo Nation chapters, including Shiprock, Fort Defiance, Kinlichee, Chinle, and Mexican Water.

The purpose of the pilot project is to help chapters better understand and witness the many potential benefits of broadband connectivity. As part of the project, Microsoft will be donating software and hardware to the five chapters and providing a basic computer training course for community residents. NTU will further assist with the training and will develop computer training and technical support for chapter administrations.

This week, NTU will be helping install the stations at each of the chapters, including tomorrow in Chinle and Fort Defiance on Wednesday. This is big news for NTU, especially in terms of potentially offering online courses to each community or supporting an entrepreneurial network through online resources.
